Voters didn’t vote for GOP budget cuts

The Gazette offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
The Trump administration continues to push for obscene cuts in long standing institutions, such as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to name one where $$1.1 billion has been cut, for the detriment of NPR and PBS.
The people did not vote for this or for the cuts in Medicaid that will remove health care for 17 million people, nor for the cuts in SNAP which will impact some 5 million people.
This bill will supercharge the deportation funds by $150 Billion, which will be used by the deportation centers, now being administered in part by private agencies. This was not people voted for, when they voted for a better border policy which would control immigration. Many agricultural, hospitality and manufacturing workers are not coming to work out of fear, as their fellow workers are removed by ICE — all causing obvious shortages of workers.
But voters certainly didn't vote for these cuts to boost the $150 billion addition to the $900 billion already in the Pentagon budget! Our Iowan GOP Senators and Representatives voted to support these cuts. It is time they listened to their constituents now that they are on August recess.
