Voter IDs will make it harder for some to vote

In response to the Aug. 12 letter by Dennis Robertson (“Use of ID to vote would increase turnout”) saying voter identifications will bring more voters out: There is no way to prove it will. It will make it harder for some people to vote.
He lost me when he wrote about being a census enumerator. What does one have to do with the other? I was a census enumerator in 1970 and 2000 and I never had anyone “hide” in the house. It has nothing to do with voters needing to have identification to vote.
It is sad Congress passed the Voting Rights Act in 1965 and now some state governors are trying to undo it by making voters have an identification.
