By voting “yes” for Public Measure G on Tuesday, Nov. 2, Linn County residents have the potential to one day build a local casino, which will result in more tourism, entertainment and jobs. Voting “yes” could also mean much-needed additional support to nonprofits like mine, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor, as well as many other area organizations.
The needs of our county have escalated dramatically with last year’s derecho and the ongoing pandemic. Many families have become more dependent on nonprofits to meet basic essentials. In response, local nonprofits have had to offer more services to address the unique needs that have come along in the last year and a half.
Linn County nonprofit organizations have pivoted to help our communities to the best of our abilities. When for-profit companies raise average hourly rates, we have to do so as well. This is why the 8 percent of net gaming revenue that the Linn Wins board has committed to giving back to nonprofits will help us provide the best possible people for the kids and families that we serve.
If you support growth, nonprofits and our communities, vote “yes” on Nov. 2 for Public Measure G.

Executive director, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor
