Many of my friends remember the election night in 2008 as a remarkable moment in the history of our country. But not all will recall that night as a turning point in our own Johnson County. That night when the ballots were counted, it became clear that, by an overwhelming majority, we had approved the Conservation Bond. Every dollar of that bond issue was nearly doubled, and the citizens of Johnson County, and our visitors, have been reaping the benefits ever since.
This year, we can continue to build on that legacy and that success by voting YES for Our Land, Our Water, Our Future.
Johnson County continues to experience growth from border to border. This leads to both opportunities and challenges. The stress on the natural environment comes from many sources, but we can make policies and investments to protect and expand our natural spaces. We can improve access to those beautiful spaces so that all of our neighbors can enjoy them. We can expand our holdings, and continue to connect them through our trail system. We can leverage opportunities to invite our friends and neighbors from other cities and counties to share what we have built.
November 5 is going to determine the direction of our county, state and country. We take that responsibility seriously, and we know you do too. Please make sure you vote both sides of your ballot, and we ask you to join us in voting YES for Our Land, Our Water, Our Future.
