Vote Tuesday to extend Linn-Mar PPEL levy
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Mar. 27, 2014 3:26 pm
Tuesday is an election day for the voters in the Linn-Mar Community School District. The school board is asking us to extend the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy for another 10 years, as is mandated by law.
As a retired senior in my Linn-Mar neighborhood, I recognize that a well-run, high-achieving public school district is a major factor in keeping my property value high. I also appreciate that the Linn-Mar school board once again will lower its overall property tax levy rate for next year. The PPEL funding is a critical tool that the school district uses to maintain and renew the capital assets and equipment used by my neighbors' children while they prepare themselves for their future.
My wife and I will vote yes to renew the PPEL levy for Linn-Mar, and I hope that every other Linn-Mar voter will do the same.
