To the editor:
President Ted Cruz will be a great friend to agriculture. While some disagree, a closer look will show Iowans why a vote for Cruz is a vote for freedom and prosperity.
Cruz has been an outspoken advocate of reigning in, or eliminating, the Environmental Protection Agency. Their intrusive practices, including the overreaching and unfounded Waters of the United States (WOTUS), is damaging to productivity. He is in favor of the elimination of the 'blend wall” put in place by the EPA. Without crippling regulations, the ethanol industry can grow under free market principles. Vehicles are being sold in other countries that burn a higher blend, but because of regulations they aren't being sold here. The EPA blend wall is a huge detriment to both corn and ethanol. Cruz would eliminate that wall, which will allow for more ethanol production and open the markets to additional products that use ethanol. E25 and E30 would be able to get to market.
Dave VanderGriend, the builder of over half the ethanol plants in Iowa, has estimated that ending the blend wall could increase the ethanol market share by 60 percent. He traveled the state with Cruz two weeks ago to show his support for his policies.
Cruz wants to eliminate the federal EPA, eliminate crippling regulations on farmers and eliminate the 'death tax.”
By electing Cruz, we will have a friend, not a business terminator, in the White House. Let's put the federal government back in its place and off ours.
