Vote Rockne Cole for Iowa City Council

To the editor:

As national politicians attack hardworking immigrants as 'racists and murderers,” it is important to realize the crucial rule that local cities can provide in helping immigrants and realizing their value to our communities. From ensuring that police departments build trust with immigrant communities to making sure that city services are available to all, many cities across the United States have worked to defend immigrants who are unjustly attacked by national politicians.

I have worked with Rockne Cole for many years on issues of immigrant justice. I know he understands immigration issues and supports immigrants. As a former 30 year resident of Iowa City (now living in Minnesota, but still cheering for the Hawkeyes), I urge voters to support Cole for Iowa City Council.
