Vote out politicians who pander to gun worship

Life taken, liberty curtailed, the pursuit of happiness crushed in Highland Park, and a nation reels from another mass shooting. It is past time to vote out the politicians who pander to fanatical constituents worshipping at the altar of a twisted interpretation of the Second Amendment and a rich and powerful gun lobby. The right to enjoy gun collecting or go target shooting does not take precedence over the right to go to school, church, shopping or a parade without fear of getting shot.
It is reasonable, responsible and sensible to restrict what kinds of guns or magazines can be bought, where they can be carried and who can use them. The rejection of last week’s bipartisan gun control measures by Rep. Ashley Hinson and Sen. Chuck Grassley and their tepid and dismissive justifications are beyond baffling. It is unreasonable, irresponsible and nonsensical to continue allowing nearly unfettered civilian access to assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and through a sieve of background check and sales regulations.
The carnage in Highland Park happens daily throughout our nation. There are too many guns, too many gun freedoms. The recourse is narrow, but powerful. Remove the politicians who won’t break the chains of the gun lobby and elect those determined to make us safer. Your vote is your hope.
