Vote out Loebsack and the other socialists

To Mr. Lifson's June 24 letter: There is a definite contrast between Congressman David Loebsack, a member of the Democratic-Socialists in Congress, and his challenger, Mariannette Miller-Meeks. Loebsack's “party” members have seen to it that our children and future generations are destined for Third World living conditions. Our capitalistic lifestyle and constitutional freedoms will never be allowed to continue, if change is not forthcoming this November.
Lifson commented that the Republican challenger's plea for privatization of Social Security would leave seniors without retirement money in uncertain economic times. Let me point out that the plan was voluntary, and anyone over 50 would still retain the full benefits of Social Security. Only a small portion of Social Security tax dollars, 3 percent or so, would be allocated toward individual retirement plans - the same savings and equity investment options most government and private retirees rely upon today for income.
Had I been given the option of applying part of my Social Security taxes to my own IRA over the past 40-plus years, I could have looked at the bags of money in my account.
Instead, try finding the money that was put away in the Social Security lockbox in your name! Your Congress has already spent every dime, years ago. So who do you trust with your money, Congress or yourself?
Vote out the socialists in November!
