Vote for Trump not endorsement of entire agenda

Trump is doing what he said he would do, but a vote for him does not imply support for his entire agenda. Iowans voted for lower grocery prices, for better border security and less involvement in foreign wars. Few, if any, voted to withdraw from the World Health Organization, or to cease all efforts to address climate change, or to pardon people who violently attacked police, or to fire hundreds of FBI agents. Fewer still voted to give the President and Elon Musk unilateral control over the federal budget and federal agencies.
The Republicans which Iowans sent to Washington know that much of what Trump is doing is illegal, often needlessly cruel, and a potential threat to national security, yet they have been irresponsibly silent. Silence implies complicity. If pressed, they erroneously argue that Trump has an election mandate to do whatever he wants to do. Our representatives need to be advised that this is not the case. How can anyone seriously think that a majority of Iowans, or even a majority of Republicans, support all of Trump’s actions, no matter how damaging they are to Iowa or to all of America. Our representatives need to be reminded that they do not work for Trump. They work for us.
