In the May 5 edition of The Gazette, Cal Thomas discussed Ronald Reagan's call for decency on college campuses in 1967. In a campaign speech, Reagan gave a directive regarding college faculty. "Force them to serve as good examples of good behavior and decency." As governor, Reagan wrote a letter to Glenn Dumke, chancellor of San Francisco State College addressing student behavior. "lay down some rules of conduct for the students comparable to what we'd expect in our own families."
Cal Thomas ends his writing by saying what was good in 1967 should be good in 2024. I agree with him. I am going to vote for candidates who display decency and good behavior and are good role models. That is what former President Reagan would want all of us to do.
