Vote by mail, and have faith in the Postal Service

Recently, powerful people in our government have questioned the integrity and ability of the United States Postal Service to deliver upon a fair and representative 'vote-by-mail” campaign in the upcoming 2020 presidential election.
As postmaster of Cedar Rapids from 2001 to 2009, I was an active member in moving vote-by-mail forward in Eastern Iowa. Vote-by-mail was/is an extension of the absentee ballot process which has been used for decades in our country.
I encourage the people of Iowa to have faith in the systems that are in place, do not hesitate to trust in those who serve you daily. Remember, they are your neighbors, your friends and your family, and most of all, they transport, process and deliver your mail!
It's as simple as going online to www.sos.iowa.gov and download an absentee ballot request form.
I have voted by mail since the day it was offered, and I will proudly do so in 2020.
