Vote Bouska for strong, sensible leadership

When Marion was first shown plans for redevelopment of the central corridor, we had one roundabout, a grass esplanade and Sixth Avenue turned back into Seventh at Eighth or Ninth Street. After a traffic study, we will now leave a westbound lane on Seventh Avenue open at the first roundabout, no designated left turns uptown and another roundabout at Seventh Street and Seventh Avenue and no esplanade.
I am no rubber stamp and vehemently disagree with the new design. This was our opportunity to improve traffic flows. This plan forces traffic to either Sixth or Eighth avenues. Consultants say this will calm the traffic through town. I did not vote to push truck traffic between our library and trail and no left turn bays on Seventh Avenue.
I remember the pleas from businesses who warned of the town's demise if they blocked 11th Street and made one ways. If we make another mistake by using roundabouts in a business district, it will be an expensive fix.
I am endorsing Allen Bouska for mayor. We need strong, sensible leadership.
