Vote at home - it’s easy and it’s safe

As we approach the June 2 primary, I encourage you to take your health and the health of the community into account.

At the end of April, the Linn County elections office will be mailing each household in Linn County a letter with two absentee ballot request forms. Please fill out, sign and return the forms in the provided envelope. If you need additional forms, please contact us at 319.892.5300 or elections@linncounty.org

Why am I encouraging you to vote at home? To reduce the community spread of COVID-19. In addition, I am reducing the number of election day polling locations from 86 to 19. Why? To reduce the number of poll workers at risk and to reduce the community spread of COVID-19. It is likely that your polling location changed so if you choose to go to the polls on election day, you may need a ride.

You must fill out, sign and return an absentee ballot request form in order to receive a vote-at-home ballot in the mail. Requests for vote-at-home ballots must be received in our office by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 22.

I encourage every voter to heed this message, consider their healthiest option for voting, and exercise their right to vote. I encourage you to vote at home. I encourage you to play it safe. Please contact your elections office if you have any questions, or go to http://linncounty.org/voteh
