Volunteers helped make the season special
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Feb. 20, 2014 2:27 pm
On behalf of The Salvation Army in Cedar Rapids, I'd like to express my gratitude to all of the volunteers who contributed to making this Christmas season a success.
The Salvation Army strives to live by its motto, Doing the Most Good. We truly would be unable to achieve this without the help we receive from each and every one of our volunteers.
This year, thousands of volunteers generously gave their time to make the holiday season a special one for less fortunate families in our community. With your help, local families were provided with supplemental food assistance, toys for children and special holiday meals they might not have received otherwise.
Together, we help to provide a sense of normalcy through services and support for families in need. This is particularly important at Christmastime when the focus should be on family rather than the burdens of financial hardship.
Thank you again for supporting those in need during Christmas. Your time and effort truly makes a world of difference to the people we serve.
If you are interested in contributing to any of our year-round programs, please contact us at (319) 364-9131 to discuss volunteer opportunities.
