To the editor:
With the upcoming opportunity to choose a president - multitudes now on both sides of the aisle - I hope that no one will fail to go to the polls to voice their choice.
My grandfather made the comment that 'no use being dumb unless you show it” which would certainly apply to anyone complacent enough to not use their opportunity to voice their mind at the polls. Many elections have been won by only a vote or two.
In Germany during the 1930s, Nazism caught fire only because the populace wasn't paying attention to what Adolf Hitler was doing. We as citizens need to be alert and not overlook our rights as citizens to vote.
From the Declaration of Independence comes 'with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed ... "
We as citizenry need to remain vigilant and not let government run away from its purpose.
Vet your electeds and made sure you don't get hoodwinked.
