Vital issues missing from GOP debate

To the editor:
Voters, especially women, have one big question: how are you going to help our families achieve economic security? During the recent Republican debate we didn't hear an answer. While some candidates at least acknowledged that the decks are stacked against working families, we were floored to see that the Republican debate offered no actual debate, much less concrete solutions, for how to fix it.
Voters in Iowa are demanding to know candidates' positions on pocketbook issues like affordable child care, equal pay, paid sick days and paid family leave. Not only are these issues top of mind for voters, but we also know from our polling that they are winning issues.
Women are going to decide the 2016 election, but the most pressing issues for working women weren't on stage last week. These candidates are shying away from the issues that could win them the presidency. Candidates should run on these issues, not away from them, if they want to get elected. It's time for the candidates to make clear where they stand.
