The tears flowed down the face of the elderly neighbor as the neighbor turned to another neighbor and said, they're going to flood us out. That was the scene on Dec. 8 as members of the Vinton Creek Neighborhood Association attended the Cedar Rapids Planning Commission meeting to overwhelmingly oppose the Lincoln Highway Lofts project.
As the meeting progressed it became obvious this was already a 'done deal.” As neighbor after neighbor listed problem after problem with this development you could see the neighbors didn't have a chance. At the end of the discussion the vote was taken by the commission. The commission chairman pretty much told the neighbors, we know what's best for your neighborhood, live with it.
