To the editor:
Iowa winters are challenging entertainment wise, especially when hosting company. On Jan. 16, my two best friends flew in from each coast: D.C. and Portland. Scrambling to craft a memorable weekend, I read about Vino van Gogh in Hoopla.
We attended the event on Jan. 17 with local artist, John Chehak, and had a blast! Having no artistic experience, we managed to produce some hang-worthy paintings. Over tasty tapas and cocktails, we painted, chatted, laughed, learned and met new people.
Kudos to Vino van Gogh, Chehak and Lava Fusion! This triad of entertainment enhanced our weekend together. The price is reasonable and the concept of local artists hosting these events in neighborhood settings is really cool. As a resident, I was exposed to a restaurant I'll no doubt return to with my family. My friends were equally impressed and thrilled with the surprise. In fact, it is now a standing request for their annual visit to Marion. I highly recommend this event for anyone: it is a true masterpiece!
