Vets honored at Heritage program

It's that time of the year when Heritage Christian School in North Liberty puts on its Veterans Day program.
Once again the school, staff and students did an outstanding job for the several veterans who attended.
The students gave the school pictures of family members who served in wars from the Civil War to the present to be shown in a slide presentation. The University of Iowa Air Force ROTC presented the colors and two speakers talked about why they served.
Principal Michael Annis talked about the sacrifice that veterans have made so that students at the school have the opportunity to succeed in whatever they chose to do.
The closing of the ceremony is something that each veteran attending will remember forever. Every student from K-8, facility and those who attended walk by each veteran attending and shakes their hand and says thank you. For some vets this may be the first time this has happened. I know each veteran who attended feels the same when I say 'Thank you, Heritage, for your appreciation for our service.” Thank you, students, facility and Principal Annis.
