Veterans won’t forget Victory Flight

I was among the World War II veterans who had the privilege of going on the Eastern Iowa Victory Flight to Washington, D.C., on April 26. Thanks to Hy-Vee, the Corvette Club and the many others who banded together to give us a day we shall never forget. It was so well organized that the day passed smoothly, and it was more like a week of vacation instead of a day.
We spent considerable time at the World War II Memorial. It is so impressive. The large display of stars - each represents 100 service members who died in World War II.
To be greeted by many men and women in uniform, organizations and many others upon our return was so great and emotional for us. Thanks guys.
To other World War II vets, do plan to go on a Victory Flight. It is something you never will forget.
