To the editor:
On Veterans Day, I enjoyed breakfast at the Johnson Avenue Hy-Vee in Cedar Rapids. I am a Navy veteran of the Korean War and World War II.
Each table had thank you cards designed by children that were available for veterans and others to read. They drew pictures of tanks, helicopters and flags. Thank you, future leaders, you are on the right track. I also want to thank the parents and teachers for helping the children design the cards. I'm sorry I couldn't read them all.
The effort behind the cards could make a grown man cry.
