Veterans deserve every benefit they’ve earned

The Budget Control Act of 2011, which formed the dubious super committee in August, called for $1.2 trillion in spending cuts over a 10-year period.
According to the Veterans of Foreign Wars publication, the so-called “deficit hawks” in Washington have asked Congress to cut 10 specific military and veterans benefits to pay for the last 10 years of war.
This is outrageous. The “VFW considers this a breach of faith with America's fighters.” I am a veteran of World War II, but any veteran of any war and those who served during peacetime all served his or her country.
After the bands stop playing and the parades and welcoming home celebrations have ended is not the time for Congress to turn its back and forget the veterans and military members. They deserve every benefit to which they are entitled.
