Veteran appreciated airport reception

A thank you to all who were involved in the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight on Sept. 23. A special thank you to Rockwell Collins for their generosity and also to all the volunteers involved who worked so hard to make the trip a special day. My gratitude also for the preparation at Kirkwood College with our itinerary and orientation and also the Cedar Rapids Fire Department for the large stars and stripes flags suspended from the fire trucks.
The reception at The Eastern Iowa Airport upon our return was the greatest and just the opposite of what it was when I returned home from my Korean service in October of 1954. The pilots and crew also made it a safe and enjoyable trip. Thanks to the guides and bus drivers who made the trip around Washington D.C. so we could see some of the monuments and memorials the citizens have paid for.
