Vernon’s optimism, experience speak well
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 6, 2011 7:07 pm
Monica Vernon was born and raised in Cedar Rapids. She worked for several local businesses before and after graduating from college, gaining knowledge and insight. In 1987, Monica started her own successful small business. Monica has met the challenge of balancing budgets. She has paid income taxes, payroll taxes, sales taxes and property taxes for decades.
She understands how important it is that the leaders that are trusted with our tax revenues use them to make Cedar Rapids the best place possible for all our citizens.
Monica and her husband of 27 years raised three wonderful daughters. This experience helps Monica keep in touch with the younger members of our community. Monica has grown during the last three decades by continuing her own education and serving on countless committees, boards and volunteer posts.
Monica has wisdom that can only be gained through life experience. Monica's optimistic outlook and pragmatic approach to problem solving are needed by our city. Please join me in voting for Monica Vernon for the Cedar Rapids City Council District 2 seat.
