Monica Vernon a pushover? Beholden to special interests? Ridiculous! Not the woman I've gotten to know.
Anyone who has followed the city for the past two decades knows Monica is not afraid to take on any person or any issue to move Cedar Rapids in the right direction. She's not afraid to take on a city manager - she regularly challenged former City Manager Jim Prosser when she thought he'd overstepped his authority. She opposed our current mayor with three rather loud votes against closing Second Avenue. And there are many more examples.
Monica is an independent thinker. She listens and works well with others - no matter who they are - to find the best solutions for her district and for the city. I appreciate her experience in both government and private business. She's beholden to no one. Monica is the right person for District 2 and our city.
