Vernon is more than qualified

An interesting observation about leaders - naturally born ones - is they are people you inherently trust and admire. I don't know many people that I could classify as a natural born leader, do you? You know, integrity, compassion, the ability to listen and understand.
I first met Monica Vernon in the executive MBA program at Iowa in the late 90s. One of the first things you sense in Vernon is the ability to connect with people coupled with her commitment and drive to get the job done. She is smart, experienced and committed to serve the people she represents.
I am skeptical of big promises and extravagant visions. Listening is an important skill when we talk about leadership and government. Few of the people we elect listen to us or understand what we need or want. Let's keep it simple. Don't spend money you don't have. Set priorities to get the things done that need to be accomplished. It is time we invested in roads and infrastructure without breaking the bank. Let's put the dollars where they need to be and spend responsibly. Elect a leader who gets it, who gets the people she represents, who gets us.
I used to live in the district and if I were still there I'd vote for her. She is more than qualified for the position of District 2 City Council representative.
