Vernon is a well-qualified candidate

Monica Vernon is running for lieutenant governor. Over the past couple of years I have had the opportunity to talk with Councilwoman Vernon on several occasions and have heard her speak to groups on climate change and equal pay for women. I have found that she is willing to stop and engage in conversation and is an excellent listener. She is well versed in a wide range of topics and, just as importantly, interested in learning more. Iowa needs her warm personality and agile mind.
I am disappointed that Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds has refused to debate Vernon. Why? Wouldn't you think Reynolds would be eager to share her vision of Iowa to the voters? We deserve to be able to better compare Reynolds to Vernon. After all, I believe both Vernon and Reynolds will remain in public service.
I think it speaks volumes about Sen. Jack Hatch that he chose a well-qualified woman as his running mate. I don't think Branstad made a choice as wise. I voted for Hatch-Vernon.
