On Nov. 8, the citizens of District 2 will be asked to vote for their representative on the Cedar Rapids City Council. Who has the personal and professional background to understand the challenges ahead of us; who knows the real impact of the council's decisions on family, home, business and the city at large; and who has demonstrated the ability to think independently, organize consensus when needed, and then act with passion for the betterment of our community?
My wife and I have known Monica Vernon and her family for nearly 25 years - we have watched our children grow up together. During this time, Monica has been a steadfast advocate for Cedar Rapids, be it preventing big-box retail stores in residential neighborhoods, voicing opposition to closing Second Avenue, or championing for jobs and economic recovery. Monica works with the citizens to understand all concerns, and weigh options. She is open minded.
We ask you to join us in re-electing Monica.
