Use Iowa’s ‘rainy day’ money now for schools

It's raining in Iowa and we are all getting hosed.
The state has an obligation to spend
99 percent of revenue provided by taxpayers for services. The Legislature is spending far less and yet cutting services. Most remarkably, education funding.
Previously, during Gov. Terry Branstad's “reign,” the rainy day fund and Iowa's coffers grew “fat.” Still fat today. The funds sit awaiting a “rainy day.” Can't wait to see when their next pay raise will come. Those funds could sit in my “rainy day” investment fund, too.
The state needs to fund Iowa's future. An excellent well-funded education will provide our children with a brighter future, thus ensuring our own. Much more so than “fat” state coffers.
Contact your representatives. It's time to spend, not cut education. Speak out because “It's raining up in here!”
