Use ethnicity, religion to promote good, hope
Dec. 2, 2009 11:43 pm
Letters on Nov. 18 and Nov. 20 raised valid concerns about the hatred and violence produced by most religions. Religion can provide comfort and hope for followers and assistance to the needy.
But like ethnic differences, it can be used as a means to dehumanize “the others” who have different belief systems.
U.S. citizens are fortunate to finally have a president who has himself been a victim of the undesirable effects of ethnicity and religion. He gives all people of the world hope that we can change our way of thinking.
