Use camera revenue to remedy festival debts

Sometimes solutions to issues may seem too easy or, no matter how much common sense comes into the picture, there will always be naysayers ready to step up to the plate with opinions.
To the point, with the NewBo fiasco in the headlines and vendors not being paid what they earned, here is an idea: Turn on the speed cameras as has been discussed. Take all the revenue to pay off all the vendors and make them whole again. Once they are paid off take any future revenue and put it towards flood protection for Cedar Rapids.
Two things will happen. First, the money is put to good use. Second, this puts an end to the controversey of whether the city is using the cameras for a revenue grab.
