Untested breast milk donations are risky

As a nurse and a mother who also breastfed my babies, unregulated donations of breast milk has the potential to be a ticking time bomb ('The online world of breast milk sharing,” March 17).
I have to say I agree with Jean Drulis, co-founder and director of Mother's Milk Bank of Iowa, who said in good conscience she couldn't recommend it. It is irresponsible to assume an 'unwritten code” would be enough to protect a baby from pathogens that crossover from a well-intentioned yet unknowingly infected donor.
I disagree with Rebekah Dove, who said people 'try to make controversial” decisions about raising children. However well intentioned, the fact remains that you are putting a child at risk with unregulated, untested donations.
