United States should be pro-immigration

To the editor:
Regarding the Nov. 19 letter 'Immigration is good for America” by Aileen Chang-Matus:
Immigrants are good for this country. Also, a wall would be ridiculous to try to keep them out. If they want in, they would find a way to get in.
There is one problem with letting every immigrant in, though. What happens if an enemy of the United States claims they're immigrants and simply walks into the country? What happens when terrorist activity intensifies in the great country we call home? We need a system that allows immigrants through the border only if they pass a background check. If they do not pass the background check or try to avoid it they could be sent back or put into custody. The U.S. should be pro-immigration, but we should also be pro-safety as well.
