UI Labor Center protects employees

The University of Iowa Labor Center serves employee needs throughout our state. That's not news. They've been educating and protecting Iowa's working taxpayers since Harry S. Truman was president.
What's news is that University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld and Law School Dean Kevin Washburn are in cahoots to close down our Labor Center.
Guided by right-wing, out-of-state interest groups, worker rights have been dismantled in Des Moines. I'm a retiree, churchgoer, taxpayer, former UI student and native Iowan, and this offends me.
The few remaining advocates for Iowa workers are needed now more than ever.
Last year, the Labor Center taught 2,500 employees, all across our state, about their rights and safety.
The Labor Center bottom line is less than a thousandth of 1 percent of the UI budget. In fact, it's less than Harreld's annual salary.
They're trying to rob us. We need our Labor Center. I'm not so sure about Harreld.
