As I continue to watch the miniseries “Call the Midwife,” one episode was about an elderly woman who, during England’s fight for women’s suffrage, went on a hunger strike and was force-fed. I think about all the women before us who fought for equality and just the right to vote! Today they would have been as excited as we are to see Kamala Harris running. She has experience and is strong and ready. I remember back to my classes at the University of Iowa women’s studies. It is time for a change here in the United States. We need our first woman president! Are your friends and neighbors registered to vote? Get involved.
