TV station ignoring local hockey scene
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Dec. 29, 2011 11:41 pm
Hockey fans unite! Even though there are thousands of hockey fans in our area, local television station KWWL seems to think that hockey isn't a sport worth reporting on. They barely acknowledge the NHL, let alone the USHL or high school teams in our area. Kids come from all over the world to try to be a part of the USHL. This prestigious league represents 16 teams in nine different states. Many kids don't make the cut. Many qualify for college scholarships after playing in this league. Some even become good enough to make it in the NHL.
Please, if you want to see more coverage of hockey on our local TV station, write a letter to the editor. Send an email, call or write a letter to KWWL. Our communities can only benefit with more coverage. More coverage equals more recognition. More recognition means more interest. More interest means more visitors. More visitors means more money spent in our cities!
