To the editor:
The Dec. 31 letter 'List of letter writers a waste of space” is the poster child for the ultimate meaning of irony. Speaking of wasted spaces. Does the author realize his name is eligible for the list of 2015 if The Gazette chooses to do the same thing again? What a joke.
My question is who was forcing him to read that section of paper anyway? Turn the page. Simple solution. If I start reading something I don't care to read, I move on. I don't lash out against people voicing their opinion and the paper wishing to acknowledge these people and their efforts.
The same thing goes for all of those who continue to bash Iowa athletics and the coaches of those teams. Be it football, basketball, wrestling, it doesn't matter. You also are indirectly attacking the student athletes at the same time.
As a high school athlete myself, I always dreamed of taking my talents to the next level. I am sure some of you have children with the same dream. Shame on you for tainting that desire because of your own selfishness because you think you could do a better job. The University of Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta would make changes if he thought it were necessary.
Again, another simple solution. If you don't like what you are seeing in front of you, don't watch. Most of us have cable, so you have a number of other choices.
