Turn Social Security cards into national ID

To reduce the main incentive for immigrants to get into the U.S. for jobs, Social Security cards should be made into a national ID card with a photo and eye scan. Eye scan equipment would be available in every county sheriff's office for use by small employers who could not afford their own.
Immigrants would obviously not have a Social Security card that could be verified for employment. Employers requested to hire a person without a valid card should be required to report, resulting in authorities promptly sending the immigrant back to his or her country of origin.
The employer representative and/or owner caught hiring immigrants without proper documentation should receive a mandatory jail sentence of six months. There could be no excuse for innocently accepting a fraudulent ID.
I support a larger quota for legal immigrants. As throughout our history, they will continue to feed our economy and stimulate our culture with their different and rich heritage.
