Tuition freeze helps students with costs

I'm a junior studying political science at the University of Iowa. I love learning at this world-class institution for many reasons. First, the university offers me a great education right here at home. The university brings together a diverse group of people committed to excellence. Finally, the student experience at Iowa is one of the best in the nation. They are well-supported and encouraged.
By far one of the biggest struggles for me and all of today's college students is the rising cost of higher education. All around the nation, tuition is increasing and pricing capable students out of the promise of an education.
I would like to thank my local legislators, Sen. Wally Horn and Rep. Kirsten Running-Marquardt, for standing up against this national trend and voting in favor of the tuition freeze for in-state UI students.
I am fortunate to receive many scholarships to help ease costs, but I must also take on a large number of loans. By freezing the tuition, my burden will be lessened.
Investing in education is investing in Iowa's future.
