Trump’s most revealing remark

To the editor:
The media have been utterly obsessed over what Donald Trump might have meant when criticizing the tough questions he was asked at the first Republican presidential debate on Aug. 6.
Entirely lost in the hubbub over his critique of Megyn Kelly is something he really did say in his infamous interview with Don Lemon. Pondering what he believed to have been the harshness of his interrogation, Trump whined: 'What am I doing? I'm not getting paid for this!”
Complaining about not getting paid to audition for the presidency of the United States of America? Now, that's the epitome of audacity! However, this is just what you should expect from a man whose muse, P.T. Barnum, offered this scathing opinion of our citizenry: 'Nobody ever lost a dollar by underestimating the taste of the American public.”
Those who have fallen under the spell of mogul Trump should heed the further insight of barker Barnum: 'There's a sucker born every minute.”
