Trump is not a ‘fighter’

The claim by Rep. Taylor Collins in a recent guest column that Donald Trump is a “fighter” who will “tell America’s enemies that we will not fall” flies in the face of Trump’s abysmal record as president: He lost the trust of our NATO allies, pulled out of the Iran nuclear agreement (making that country increasingly dangerous), and cozied up to dictators Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-Un, and Viktor Orban. Trump’s first Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, called him “a f***ing moron.” Now Trump and his running mate J. D. Vance want to abandon Ukraine to the predations of Putin as part of a broadly isolationist, anti-democratic ideology that would abandon the position of leadership in the world we have held since 1945. That’s not “fighting” — it’s surrendering.
