Traffic cameras are valuable

The Iowa Senate is investigating traffic cameras and saying they seem to smack of big brother and wanting to ban them. I think they should be focusing on things like the budget, taxes, jobs, education and the economy instead of Sen. Brad Zaun, R-Urbandale, whining that he received a ticket for his son speeding in Cedar Rapids.
Can his son not read the sign “Photo Enforced”? Come on, senator, do you want us to believe that you received numerous complaints from Cedar Rapidians as you represent Urbandale? I think not.
Sure, you think it's wrong because you got caught or should I say your son did. Perhaps if you would have instructed your son a little more on obeying the law, this letter would not be written.
Now as for Sen. Steve Kettering, R-Lake View, and his big brother comment. Both he and Zaun need to provide data to the opposite of what was printed in The Gazette lately that the cameras have reduced crashes and have changed driving habits and saved lives.
So what if they make the city money - can you convince anyone, other than your whining buddies, that this is bad? Saving just one life makes these cameras valuable and making money is an added asset.
Do what you were elected to do. Stop wasting time and money.
