Traffic cameras are keeping us safe

Twelve miles over the speed limit and “beating” a red light are the same as speeding or “running” a red light. The rules we learned when we were given the opportunity to drive specifically stated both of these were then and are now illegal.
I got nabbed by a camera on Interstate 380 because I was “in a hurry” and “everyone one else was going that fast.” Neither of those reasons are justifiable.
I am glad the Cedar Rapids Police Department has help from these cameras. Accidents on I-380 have decreased. My only request is the CRPD put the money to good use that lessens its need for tax dollars and maybe work to get the individual with
186 citations off our streets.
