Torture revelations shouldn’t shock us

To the editor:
In his later years, Harry Truman reckoned that the worst mistake of his presidency was allowing the Central Intelligence Agency to be established.
Recent revelations about illegal CIA torture and rendition programs should not surprise us. The rogue agency seems to have an unlimited budget, unknowable agenda, is accountable to no one and has a top-down policy of denying its actions and lying to Congress, the president, the media and the public.
Through its activities, the CIA seems to want to keep the world in turmoil and unrest and prolong the Cold War in perpetuity. Sensing a move toward normalizing relations with Cuba, I suspect the CIA has segued toward North Korea as our new international enemy to fear. The recent cyber attack against Sony has all the earmarks of a false flag black operation. We all know that the NSA/CIA together have the cyber capabilities to pull off such a caper. Americans - wake up! Reality is more frightening than the movies.
