Time to stop rhetoric, time to work together
The Gazette Opinion Staff

This country is not going through anything that we haven't been through in the past. We have had recessions, depressions, high unemployment and huge debts, all of which we have been able to overcome. The biggest difference between then and now is the inability for us to hold honest discussions regarding these issues without hate-filled rhetoric and finger pointing. We are all guilty of it in one form or another and it will be the thing that destroys this country and our way of life if we allow it to.
Our Founding Fathers had differing ideologies and opinions. Our country was not created despite these differences, but because of them. It is the American people, with all our freedoms and differences, who are the most innovative and productive force the world has ever seen.
The time has come that we all stop acting like attention-seeking reality stars and cable news pundits and start working together. Do we want to work together for a better tomorrow, or do we just want to roll over and die?
