Time to retire Chuck Grassley
N/A
Oct. 30, 2010 12:39 am
Chuck Grassley is asking us to return him to the U.S. Senate for the sixth time. Why should we?
Well, there's the seniority and power he's accumulated in five terms, but I'm asking to what effect for average Iowans?
For decades, we've been badly in need of infrastructure repair and modernization in bridges, roads and dams, for example; recovery from flood damage has been critical.
When given the chance to bring in federal dollars, Sen. Grassley chose $55 million for a rain forest! Iowa became a laughingstock and the poster child for the worst pork barreling. This is consistent with Grassley's gradual transformation into an arch conservative, pandering to the most extreme elements in his party.
Let's invoke term limits and retire the senator. Bring in Roxanne Conlin to try out a fresh, people-oriented approach to governing.
