Time to move past Iowa loss to ISU

Regarding David H. Burke's Saturday letter “Foul disparity helped ISU beat UI”:

Burke wants us to believe that the referees' bad calls caused the Hawks to lose the game against ISU on Dec. 13. I'm not sure what game Burke was watching, but with 13 seconds left to play and the score Iowa 82, ISU 83, an Iowa player is fouled, he misses both free throws, which, had he made them, would have given Iowa a 1-point lead. ISU gets the rebound and the ISU player is fouled by Iowa to stop the clock, not a poor call by the referees, but an obvious foul. Iowa gets the ball back with 12.1 seconds to go after two made free throws by ISU, score ISU 85, Iowa 82. With 5 seconds left, one of Iowa's best 3-point shooters misses a wide-open 3-point shot that would have tied the game. Two tries at a tip-in fail, game over, ISU wins.

Excuse me, but in the last minute or so of play, the Iowa players failed to execute, not the referees. And, oh yes, the ISU players did execute, by making their free throws and rebounding. It has been more than two weeks since the game was played, the Hawks lost, get over it.
