Time to finally pass hunting season for mourning doves

It's no secret that Iowa hunting license/stamps sales are down. The need for additional revenue to offset this reduction is necessary to continue the high standards of the Department of Natural Resources. It is vital that we finally get past the “feeling” stage concerning mourning dove hunting in Iowa and get on to the “thinking” stage and the “doing” stage.
I'm 74 and remember the seemingly endless chatter about Iowa dove hunting during most of my adult life. The bottom line of all those wasted years is that we are surrounded by states that allow mourning dove hunting and Iowa is still talking about it.
If the well-meaning, but misguided folks, who have successfully derailed a mourning dove hunting season over the years were willing to put their money on the line like the sportsmen do, I doubt we would be in need of more revenue.
The facts concerning the population numbers of the mourning dove have been presented over and over. There are bound to be about so many mourning doves die every year - one way or the other. Their population continues at around 400,000 per year. Let's finally get it passed into Iowa hunting regulations.
