Time for Grassley to pull a Goldwater

I agree in part with words from Marie Belle Kelly of Norway, Iowa, in her letter in the Aug. 5 edition. Her third sentence, opening paragraph, says, “He had the world by the tail, all he had to do was take care of it. Instead, he let his narcissistic persona and ego get in the way and forgot that the United States is a democracy.” Her second question (second paragraph,) a question for Sen. Grassley: “Are you … ready to give up America's democracy …?”

Later, she references 1974 when Barry Goldwater (and colleagues) visited President Nixon to tell him “his show was over.” Her letter ends with this urging to Sen. Grassley: “it is time … to round up your colleagues and visit Donald Trump.”
